Cooperation on the Exchange of Knowledge and Resources is Crucial for Promoting Active Rehabilitation Internationally
Active Rehabilitation International (ARI) is committed to standardizing and promoting Active Rehabilitation globally, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and resources between member states. While methods may differ slightly across borders, the challenges faced by individuals with spinal cord injuries are remarkably similar. This is a relatively small diagnosis group that often does not receive the necessary prioritization, either in access to Active Rehabilitation programs or in research efforts.
United for Active Lives and Quality of Life
To address these gaps, ARI brings together organizations and individuals dedicated to improving lives through Active Rehabilitation. We aim to foster a strong international community of peer mentors who support each other across borders, advocating for independence, inclusion, and improved quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries worldwide.
Rehabilitation services are under significant strain globally, and ARI positions itself as a strong advocate for Active Rehabilitation as a complementary and extended approach to the rehabilitation offered in hospitals and other institutions. Peer mentoring remains a key element of this effort, enabling participants to achieve independence and self-reliance after injury.
Leveraging Decades of Experience
With over 30–40 years of practice, ARI harnesses its members' collective expertise to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and develop a robust, theoretical framework for Active Rehabilitation. By working collaboratively, ARI will:
Advocate for better prioritization of Active Rehabilitation at international, national, and local levels.
Develop new knowledge and validate the effectiveness of Active Rehabilitation through research conducted across member states.
Highlight Active Rehabilitation as a cornerstone for improving life quality and fostering independence for those with spinal cord injuries.
Global Advocacy and Impact
ARI strives to advocate for systemic change by putting international pressure on decision-makers to prioritize Active Rehabilitation. We believe that our collective voice will drive change, not only in rehabilitation practices but also in attitudes toward inclusion and diversity.
Through international collaboration, shared research initiatives, and ongoing peer support, ARI is working toward a future where everyone with a spinal cord injury can access the tools and programs they need for an active, fulfilling life
